As Nigeria celebrates her 52nd independence anniversary today many Nigerians are completely dissatisfied with the pitiable condition of the country. Today, Nigeria is still confronted with economic, food, health, environmental, community and political insecurity challenges for which she lacks the adequate leadership capacity to handle.
The strong coalition of Boko Haram, floods and bad leadership is ensuring that Nigeria’s decent into a state of hopelessness and insecurity in all fronts is further consolidated. It is clear that these current crops of thieving and mindless miscreants who called themselves our leaders are implementing “Project finish Nigeria”. For, how can we explain their poor handling of the fuel subsidy scandal and their insensitivity to the plight of Nigerians whose lives and livelihoods have been devastated by the climate induced and man made floods sweeping across Nigeria in recent times!
At this stage of our nationhood, we need strong, committed and responsible leadership to take us out of the woods and set us on a path of genuine development. We need a leadership that can restore our confidence and hope in Nigeria.
As Nigerians, we owe it to ourselves to start organizing ourselves to remove these corrupt and insensitive leaders. Let us collectively with our votes “kick them out” and ensure that they are permanently out. Let us start to shop for quality leaders who will see their role as a calling to salvage Nigeria from the decay of corruption and not as an avenue to loot.
As we celebrate today, let us reflect on the destiny and the future we want for Nigeria. Our past and our actions today have a bearing on the future we want for our country. Let us remember that Nigeria can only be truly independent with our collective commitment to ensure bad leadership becomes history.
Happy independence Nigeria!
